Hey everyone, Mark here...I sailed the club Laser a few times during the 07/08 season.
Anyway, I'm now in a position to buy my own laser and am looking forward to racing regularly this season, however, have a couple of questions.
1) Will I be able to store my boat at the club, if so, how do I go about formally applying for a space...?
2) Where are the best places to look for a good 2nd hand boat...? I've started with sailingscene.com.au and also qldlasers.com but are there any other places worth trying.
Cheers Mark

Hi Mark, Peter here, I sailed the black Laser "Vegemite" last year. In answer to your questions; 1. space is tight under the club and by the end of last year it was full. However one or two boats have moved out so there may be space. There is no formal policy as far as I know about requesting space, normally we just wait until the start of the sailing season and see what we can fit in. We are always keen to try to accomodate people if we can as it adds to the fleet. 2. I found the QLD Laser site the most helpful to find lasers as I updated mine late in the last season. The Sailing Scene and NBLasers at Nelson Bay www.nblaser.com.au/ both have second hand Lasers on their web sites. Mark Patterson, the local Laser dealer often has second hand boats on consignment as well = www.pattersonsailing.com.auI know Sybille has her boat for sale at the moment - an early 1990s boat and it is stored uder the club - you could kill two birds with one stone there because if you buy a boat already stored there, I would assume you could claim its storage space - I will have to defer to the committee in that regard for a definitive answer on that though. I know Steve Geck, one of the committee and a Laser sailor browses this forum so he can probably shed more light on the underclub storage from a Club Committee point of view. Hope to see you there on the 5th of September, cheers

Hi Peter and thanks for the info.
Would you have any contact details or details regarding Sybilles boat (e.g. sail number, includes turbo pack, etc)...?
Unfortunately I am likely to be away on the 5th Sept, but will certainly see you there the week after.
Cheers Mark

Sybille's boat is advertised on the QLA site, its sail number is 145511 and it is pretty much original - it doesn't have the turbo gear. I think she's selling it as a Full Rig. If you had to buy the turbo pack and a newer sail I think it would be pretty competitive.
Her email address is sybilleroger@gmail.com but I think she is away until the 14th of this month.
It is under the club so we could organise for you to see it any weekend if you want to.
Cheers Peter
